UPDATED LOCKDOWN INFO CUARENTENA ACTUALIZADO

Classes continue cancelled due to the State of Alarm introduced because of the Covid-19 outbreak. The grammar exams of all my groups have been changed to new dates you can check HERE. Detailed info about all the changes on the school's webpage.

This is what you should work on during the lockdown for these exams:

Agrup 2ºESO A-B & C-D: Units 1 to 4.

4ºESO B & D: Units 1 to 5.

1ºBAC B & C: Units 1 to 6.

Apart from your textbook and workbooks,

ESO students can also use OXFORD ONLINE LEARNING ZONE

BAC students can use PERFORMANCE-1 ONLINE WORKBOOK if you're registered.

I've set up groups on Google Classroom to keep in touch with you and assign activities. You can contact me at the email below for any question or doubts.

The 2nd term has already been assessed with the exams and work done up to 12th March when the lockdown started. The missing grammar exam will count for the 3rd term.

Keep calm down during the lockdown. There's a lot of time to do lots of things.

A 2ª avaliación xa foi avalíada cos exames e traballo realizado ata o 12 de marzo cando comezou o peche escolar. O exame de gramática que falta contará para a 3ª avaliación.

Mantede a calma durante o confinamento. Hai un montón de tempo para facer moitas cousas.

WRITING IN THE XXIst CENTURY: TWEETS

 (6th Cultural Week-4: Writing in the 21st century)

Continuing with the different ways by which we communicate by writing in the XXIst century, it's the turn for tweets. To tweet is the English word which refers to the vocalization birds do, both their calls and their songs, which have a function and a meaning.
From this original meaning, now the word has developed to give name to Twitter, the online networking service, which enables users to send and receive short messages, not more than 140 characters, which are called tweets.
Here are some examples of tweets on Twitter:

- WRITE ORIGINAL OR FUNNY TWEETS IN ENGLISH. REMEMBER NOT MORE THAN 140 LETTERS. YOU MAY USE ABBREVIATIONS LIKE WHEN TEXT MESSAGING.

Technologies have stirred up the way we communicate in writing. Text messages and Whatsapp have made us use all kinds of abbreviations and smileys o emoticons. Is this the way handwriting is changing for the future? Is digitalwriting and smileys the future?

GOODBYE HANDWRITING?

 (6th Cultural Week-2: Writing in the 21st century)
TODAY IS NATIONAL HANDWRITING DAY 
IN U.S.A. & BRITAIN


Today is National Handwriting Day in USA and Britain and this course, our Cultural Week (the 6th) will be devoted to the History of Handwriting. Last November we learnt that Finland, one of the countries with the highest quality education in the world, has decided to stop paying attenction to handwriting teaching in school and will concentrate on teaching keyboard writing.
Is handwriting out of fashion? Is it from the past century? Handwriting isn't that important? Isn't our own handwriting part of our personality? Arguments for and against have appeared since the news was known. In the history of handwriting, will this mean the end of an era? The end of handwriting?

The English Department is going to work on how communicating via writing has changed in the XXIst century. Different posts will be following to show these changes and propose different projects to be done in English for the Cultural Week exhibits and quizzes. Such as:

NEGATIVE & QUESTION FORMATION IN ENGLISH

Two charts to show you the structures of negative sentences and questions in English. Remember that in English you need AUXILIARY VERBS to make negative sentences and questions. Each auxiliary verb is different depending on the VERB TENSE the sentence is. Check below in each chart with the auxiliary verb forms of each verb tense and the examples.
