THE 'RAFAEL DIESTE' ENGLISH DEPARTMENT REUNION

Hilda Fraga, one of the original members of the 'Rafael Dieste' secondary school English Department since its beginning back in 1990,  celebrated her retirement today. For the first time, all the official members that have been part of this department throughout all these years gathered together. From the first members: Mª Luisa, Carmen (Rubio), Elsa & Elena (exception of the late Paco de la Iglesia), to the ones who came after replacing them chronologically: myself (Ramón), Belén, Carmen (Peña) & Isabel.
All these members (plus Juan Carlos & Inma), many other stand in substitutes and 12 conversation assistants have been teaching English in this school for the last 35 years. Three of them will still carry on and there will be others to follow and continue the task...
Hoping Hilda enjoys this new period in her life, knowing she has been such an inspiring, caring and very respected person in this school.
It has been an honour working with her and all the others. All the best to them!

SAYING GOODBYE TO KAYLEIGH

Today's the last working day for our current conversation assitant KAYLEIGH VANTASSEL. The American assistant who has been with us these last two school years 2020-21 e 2021-22.
To end her stay with us, she organized the "HOMECOMING" activities, which have brought us so much satisfaction and fun last week.

Kayliegh, we just want to thank you for your hard work, your efforts, your vitality and kindness. We wish you all the best in your life and we'll certainly miss you, though you know where we are.

BREAKING UP WITH SPANISH STEREOTYPES

Our Conversation Assistant for this course, Joshua DeYoung, has prepared a video breaking up Spanish stereotypes.
The idea of the video is to show American students, who could possibly visit Spain, that the image they might of the country through its stereotypes (flamenco, paellas and bullfighting) doesn't fit in with what they'll actually find in different parts of the real country. The video is part of his own personal project to prepare a survival guide for American students visiting Spain. The video means to be a trailer of this guide.
Joshua appears in it, too.

[9th CW] AMERICAN BRUNCH @ 'RAFAEL DIESTE'

To close the events of our 9th Cultural Week on Gastronomy, the English Department prepared for the 1st ESO groups several American Brunches. Students teachers and our language assistant worked to set up a traditional American Brunch. Here are some photos of how they enjoyed preparing and eating it.
