SORRY vs EXCUSE ME vs PARDON
Trying to clarify in this post different expressions used to apologize with some examples:
Excuse me and pardon me are polite expressions that you use when you do something that could be slightly embarrassing or rude.
You usually use sorry to apologize after you have done something wrong.
According to Macmillan Dictionary, excuse me is used fo:
- politely getting someone's attention
- showing you are sorry for interrupting someone
- asking someone to move so that you can get past them
- politely telling someone you are leaving
Sorry is used for :
- emphasizing how bad, stupid,or embarrassing something is
- feeling sadness or sympathy because something bad has happened to them
- disappointed about a situation, and wishing you could change it
1. We usually say excuse me before we interrupt or disturb somebody;

Compare:

I beg your pardon is a more formal way of saying sorry.
- I beg your pardon. I’m afraid I didn’t realize this was your
2. If we do not hear or understand what people say, we usually say Sorry? What? (informal) or (I beg your) pardon?
Americans also say Pardon me?

15 YEARS OF WIKIPEDIA
Yesterday, January 15th Wikipedia, Internet's free encyclopedia, celebrated their 15th birthday. It's been working since January 15th 2011. Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger created it.
It was born as a webpage in English, but nowadays it has articles written in 287 languages. 28 of them have more than 300.000 articles each. Only in Spanish there are more than one million articles. Totally there are more than 38 million pages about every topic you can imagine inside it. Only between 2005 and 2015 the number of articles were multiplied by 10, as there are more than 700 new pages created every day. Each month the web receives 500 million visits.
Last year Princess of Asturias International Cooperation Prize was awarded to it for making universal knowledge accesible to everybody.
