In the afternoon, both Spanish & German students toured the village where they were staying. These are some pictures of the centre of the village. Above Viktoriapark.
On our first day we were received by the German teacher organizing the exchange, Julia Westenburger, who showed us around the different buildings and parts of the Altkönigschule. The school's headmaster Mr Peppler also read a welcome speech in Spanish.

Our School Exchange 2019 starts today. This course we're beginning a relationship with a new German school: the Altkönigschule in Kronberg im Taunus, near Frankfurt. Our students travel there today to stay for a week. On April 29th the German students will come for their one-week stay in our city. As usual, students will be living with their partner families, attend some activities in each school and they will be planned visits and trips to nearby places of interest. Twelve of our students take part and fifteen Germans. Galician version of this post @ 'RafaelDiesteBlog'
The other place we'll be visiting during the exchange is the historical German town of Heidelberg. Here's a video with the top ten things to check there.

This year's students exchange is again to Germany, but not to our all-time friends in Nuremberg, but to a new school: the Altkönigschule in Kronberg im Taunus near Frankfurt. In a month's time, our twelve Spanish students will exchange experiences with fifteen German ones during one week in each country. We'll be going on the first week in April, they'll be returning the visit on the first week of May.
We'll report on the activities on this blog. But today, here's a video of the place we are visiting: KRONBERG.
Here's an example that shows reusing and recycling is possible. It's a shopping centre in Elskilstuna, near Stockholm, next to the city's recycling plant, which only sells recycled and upcycled items. A way of fightening exaggerated consumerism and protect the environment.
At 10 o'clock on September 10th 1996, 200.000 cubic metres of rubbish and trash from the Bens landfill collapsed and buried O Portiño leaving a horrible smell through the city, which would last for months and killing a 58-year-old man Joaquín Serantes López, who was washing his car nearby. His body was never found.
That ecological disaster radically changed the treatment of rubbish in our city. City rubbish has since then been treated at rubbish recycling plant in Nostián and the place where the landfill has become a green park of 300.000 square metres. Info taken from news @ LaVozDeGalicia (11-Sept-18)
