CONDITIONAL SENTENCES NOT ONLY WITH 'IF'

'IF' is the basic connector for conditional sentences, but not the only one. This chart gives you other possibilities.

EXCEPTION: "IF I WERE..."

IF I WERE... Remember that only in conditional sentences it's possible to use WERE with I, HE, & SHE, because this is the remainder of an old-fashioned Subjunctive form of verbs in English, which no longer exists.

IF I WERE... is also a structure used to GIVE ADVICE.
