Almost ending this cultural week devoted to the sea, we've learnt about the blockage of Egypt's Suez Canal by a huge container ship since last Tuesday.
The Suez Canal is an artificial sea-level waterway in Egypt, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea through the Isthmus of Suez; and dividing Africa and Asia. It's one of the world's most used commercial routes and this blockage is becoming a big problem for the transportation of food, goods and oil. The price of oil and gas has already increased since then.
The "Ever Given" container ship from Taiwan, which has blocked the canal, is a 220,000 ton megaship got stuck in the sand on the eastern bank of the canal.
